HOW TO BE HAPPIER

Happiness in a topic we can talk about for hours and hours and we still would‘t find a unanimous answer what it really is. I guess it depends on every person, everyone sees happiness as a completely different thing. But happiness isn‘t actually a certain thing, we sometimes forget that it‘s more like a road, like a journey and not a certain point in life which will make you fully happy once you reach it. If you try to look for a specific point in life so that you could be happy, you never will. Happiness comes from the inside, not the outside. I learned this the hard way as probably many of us do while trying to depend on life‘s situations, on others, we keep on hoping to become happy when we‘ll get into university, when we‘ll find a perfect guy or girl, when we get the chance travel the world. Being happy is the best feeling in the world whatever that happiness means to you. When you are happy, you want this feeling to be in your life forever which, of course, doesn‘t happen because it‘s impossible to be happy all the time. But I think it depends on us so much how happy we are in life despite the life happening all around us. This is why i want to talk a bit about my tips on being happier.

     ✿  Be Positive.

This probably sounds a bit cliché but seriously, it‘s so so important to create a positive atmosphere in your life. You have to make room for positivity by removing all the negative parts and put an effort to make life as bright as it‘s possible. There are enough bad and rough situations in life itself, so we can only try to bring some positivity ourselves so that our lives would be balanced. I try so much to look on the bright side as much as I can and I fail miserably pretty often and I know how difficult that is sometimes because by nature I am a person who always thinks disasters in her head so being positive actually is a tough work to me. I know some people are much more positive without trying that much and I honestly envy them. But you can be positive, you just have to try a little if you aren‘t already. it‘s really worth it, believe me.
You can fill your life with positive affirmations, hang them where you can see them everyday, remove negative people from your life (which is so much easier said than done of course, but it can be a very effective way), THINK positive thoughts in your daily life – instead of thinking „oh no, this will never work out“, for once try to think that it will, that things will eventually BE okay.

   Laugh.

It is such a pleasant activity to have in your life and it does wonders for your mental health. I think it‘s so much important to have a good laugh at least once in your day. If people around you aren't that funny, Internet is an endless source for that and you can find whatever makes you laugh. Everyone has their own sense of humor and that‘s why Internet is amazing – it can be anything from cat videos to great comedians or great shows to watch (Modern family anyone?). It‘s so important to actually make an effort to have a good laugh, it helps you snap out of bad mood immediately. Instead of reading one more article about economy or world‘s problems, try to have a good laugh. It‘s amazing, believe me.

Create little rituals and stick to them.

I think it‘s great to have little rituals in your every day life which make you happy. It‘s all in the details in life. I think it‘s extremely important to find some time every day to make something that you really enjoy. It doesn‘t have to be anything big, anything expensive or even really exciting – it just have to make you feel better. It‘s up to you to choose what it is that makes you feel better, what puts a smile on your face instantly, what gives you this nice feeling in your heart. To some it can be as simple as a fresh cup of coffee every morning, to others this can be a little dance routine to their favorite song every day. It can also be as simple as painting your nails your favorite color (or all the colors you like at once), reading 10 pages of a captivating book every day before you go to sleep, watching an episode of your favorite TV show.. the list can be endless, you only have to choose what you really want to make a habit in your life. I think it can increase your level of happiness so much if you actually find time every day to do something you really enjoy. We all have things to do, responsibilities, meetings and deadlines but it‘s up to us to try to be a little bit happier by finding time to do something that makes us feel good.

  Go out more.

By this I don't mean a night club, I just want to say you should go out every day. Sometimes I find myself stuck at home if I don't have places to be and it's not that hard to make this into a bad habit and I think it's so important to go out at least for a while every day. Just to take a walk in the park, spend some time with people you love, go to a restaurant or just to eat pizza, go to movies. Just don't get stuck at home, go out to places, meet people. Sometimes only walking in a street full of people can make you feel better!

  Be Grateful

I believe that the most important thing in life is to concentrate on what you‘re grateful for instead of thinking about what you don‘t have. It sounds cliché again but gratitude isn‘t as easy as it sounds to be honest, being grateful really takes effort. There will always be things in our lives we don‘t have, things we want to improve but everyone has things to be grateful for. Being grateful isn‘t necessarily about big things, about expensive cars or big houses, or private planes, or tickets to New York (which would be awesome) but it‘s much more about small things in lives which we take for granted without really noticing them that much. These things are different for every person but it‘s so important to find them in your life. This is why I have a series of posts my endless list of gratitude and I also have a little book where every single day I try to write couple of things I‘m grateful for that day. Sometimes a week goes by without writing in that book, sometimes I have so many things to write, I forget some of them. I  really believe it makes a difference, it really does make me happier. We all talk about gratitude but not everyone actually does something about it. It‘s not difficult to do for everyone but the results are amazing. Maybe you don‘t have a perfect apartment , maybe you can‘t afford to travel every week to a different city, maybe you don‘t have a perfect boyfriend/family/friends but there is always something to be grateful for.
