Something I really struggle with in every day life is turning my mind off. I just can't do this.. ever. Which is very sad and tough, to be honest, because it exhausts you a lot and whatever you do, your mind keeps getting back to what makes you nervous or your jobs you need to accomplish. You can't turn your mind before you go to sleep, when you are watching a movie, when you try to watch ballet.. To me, it is very hard to get mindful in this world which never stops, when there are so many things to do every minute, so many things to read, so many things to SEE, so many works to do, so many goals to reach by the time you are certain age. All that is not really that surprising, because after all, we are living in the XXIst century and world won't stop moving anytime soon, I think, and it has become some kind of norm to be stressed most of the time.
The thing is, that we all do need to relax every once in a while and if you struggle to do that, your mind could really suffer. That is why you can get anxious, your body could get very tense and migraines could become a very big part of your life. Lately I've been trying to adopt these little habits in my life and I have to say that they are helping to make my life less hectic and my mind a lot calmer.
Don't use Social Media in the first hour of your day.
I know how tempting it is to grab your phone the minute you wake up and I've done it pretty much every day but it's really not healthy to do when your eyes are not fully open to scroll through the world of Instagram. I think it's much better to do this when you get fully ready to get on with your day, when you're going to the work or school and you are stuck in the bus, but just leave the first day of your hour to get fully ready for your day without a phone in your hand.
Exercise.
It is very easy to forget to exercise every day among all these tasks your day is filled with and I would forget to do this at all if my whole body wouldn't get insanely tense after some time, so I'm forced to remember to exercise regularly. Thankfully, I walk quite a lot every day but if I forget to spend at least 30 minutes every day doing yoga or dancing, I get really bad headaches, so I'm trying to make this a part of my routine. It hasn't been easy, but I'm really trying! If you can't get to the real classes or gym, thankfully there are some amazing lessons on the Internet.
Have a journal.
It's much easier to write everything on your laptop or phone, but you know, it's very refreshing and very nice to hear the sound of pen touching the paper and seeing all your worries and problems filling the pages of your journal and feeling a lot calmer after you do this. Writing really helps figure out a lot of things which are happening in your own little mind, you should definitely try it.
Be grateful.
I believe that being grateful is an essential part of life. Despite this, I forget this a little too often and my little notebook of gratitude stays empty and sad. I do have things to be grateful about all the time and I believe everyone does, but sometimes these things are forgotten when things get a little bit stressful or not everything is going by the plan. But I still think that even if you are not feeling well, even if there are things which are going really wrong or you are just upset, every day before you go to sleep, try to write at least 3 things you are really grateful about. It can be totally anything, the smallest thing in your day which made you smile and let me tell you, this little ritual in your day can really make a difference in how you're feeling!
Stay positive.
This is related to the previous one a lot and I think this goes without say that you just have to be positive to be fully happy. You can choose your mind and your mind is very much related to the life you lead, so everyone should try to do this. It is, of course, easier said than done, but it's important to try at least begin your day with a positive attitude and think that after all, everything is going to be okay.
