4

4 months of absence over here. 4 years of blogging here. I love how things line up so beautifully and I just can't help but smile that I can come back with a little post on a day like this. Let's forget that I haven't been blogging for a while now (it turns out I'm a pretty good liar. Breaking radio silence, yeah right) but this blog has been alive for 4 whole years. It's so strange to think that I've created it when I was 18 years old in this very same room I'm sitting now at but that me from 4 years ago and me of today are different in so many ways. I look different, I act different and I feel different. This is one of the things I love having a blog the most - being able to see myself growing in life and being able to see where I was at a certain time a year or two ago.

So where was I for these four months? Well, it's difficult to say, really. I was here, always here and I've tried so many times to open up a new window and try to write something, but it just never worked out the way I wanted and all these texts I've hoped to publish are still left somewhere in the archives. I've had so many things to write about and in one way it's a little sad that the Summer which has been so wonderful hasn't been documented here at all, but on the other hand I can keep it in my head forever. Here's hoping that my memory won't fail me. We say it all the time, I'm busy, I'm busy, oh I'm so busy and it's seems that being busy nowadays is a thing that we all are, it's so difficult to escape and since pretty much all of us live this crazy lifestyle of busyness, we even have to plan meeting our friends in advance. It's crazy, isn't it? So that's what happened, I fell into the busyness and it's not as easy to escape as I could have hoped. Or maybe I just use it as an excuse, maybe I just didn't feel the need to write here at all because since I've had so much going on, I have notebooks full of thoughts but nothing made here to the blog.
It feels like Summer was never really here now that it's raining outside like it does in a real November manner, but this Summer was pretty awesome. It wasn't really at all about some crazy events, music festivals or the trips, it was all about the people I've met. From the outside it could look like a pretty boring Summer - work, University and a couple of little trips thrown in but as a person that was the one to experience it all, I can say that it was one hell of a Summer even though I've left my city only for couple of days and I've spent much more time in University than a "normal" student should in the summertime on the summer break. As I was responsible for coordinating my beautiful team of freshmen mentors, I've had things to do in the University and around it but most of the days I've spent there were just because I was actually having fun there, as crazy as that could sound. But I guess we all choose our kind of fun and for me this summer was exactly the kind of one I've needed. Somehow in the middle of the Summer I've met some beautiful and wonderful people that I've been studying with for years now but never thought of having them as my friends and I've got to remember just how beautiful and fulfilling new friendships are. Then there were nights with guitars, fires and songs that make the forests echo, there were little road trips, the sea and the laughter. I was also forced to leave my comfort zone more times than I could count and I've done it and I'm proud of myself for how much I've grown. And never for a minute I've felt lonely this Summer with all these beautiful people around me.
And then the Autumn came back and I came back to the University that I haven't even left for the Summer. The autumn came back quickly as it always does, streets became full with people, with students, my university become once again full of sounds, of people, of new unfamiliar faces and I began my third year there as the leaves were changing color. In the middle of my beautiful birthday month I went to see Prague, to explore one new city from my bucket list and it was wonderful.
Now I'm 22 years old, I'm still spending all of my days in uni and making the best of it, seeing it in the change of the seasons and loving it more and more. I'm still busy, because escaping the busyness is quite challenging as I've said; I read a lot, write a lot and sleep not really enough, have classes in french, english and spanish and sometimes I speak in all 3 of them at the same time. Every day I create new and new plans, one of them is always to come back writing here because it used to be a part of my days, a happy one but I guess I got tired of it and lost the joy it should have brought me. I create plans, change them and overthink everything I say, do or don't do just like a normal twenty something person does.

MY ENDLESS LIST OF GRATITUDE #24

This was a very unexpectedly long week. Even though I have finally passed all of my exams this semester and I'm free to enjoy my holidays, time didn't rush at all. I'm a little exhausted, to be honest, so I spent these past days just laying in my bed, catching up on Gilmore Girls, Pretty Little Liars, Harry Potter, doing some yoga, writing some blog posts while calmly sitting in a cozy coffee shops, celebrating my Dad's birthday and being a little less productive than on the previous weeks. But it feel GOOD to be able to relax a little after these crazy weeks of studying and I've missed these times when the most important choice I had to make that day is what episode to watch next, or maybe watch a movie or read a book? Decisions, you know?
Anyway, this Sunday I have a little trip planned, so it's very exciting and my days are going to be filled with a little bit more action after these long and relaxed days. Also, the winter has definitely came back over here, so I'm really looking forward to escaping this coldness for a little bit.

How was your week? A relaxing one or a busy one?

♥ I've made a little Tiramisu cake for my Dad which turned out really well and we had a really nice evening while eating it with a glass of wine.

♥ I think Luna should be a cat model, she is getting prettier day after day!

♥ I recently finally updated to a new phone, it feels so good to be able to use a phone which finally works, my old one has finally gave up after many months of not properly working.

♥ I'm halfway through the sixth Harry Potter book and I'm already getting sad I'm nearly done with the rereading of the series. I still have three movies to watch again, so it's a little better.

THREE YEARS ON THE WEB

Today marks the 3rd anniversary of my blog. It feels so strange to think that already three years have passed from the day when I created this little blog, back then I was 18 years old and still a student in high school and needed a place to document my senior year in high school and I think I didn't think about staying here for a little longer. I am very happy I did because now I have this archive of 3 years of my life and I can clearly see how much I'm evolving and growing year after year. It may not be that visible to readers, but it's very visible to me and I'm very grateful for that.
This year I've had my ups and downs with this blog, just like everyone does, I think, but the most important part is that I decided to stick with it no matter what. I can honestly say that I can't and don't want to imagine my life without this place on the Internet. Despite the fact that it's not a very big blog (very far from it, actually), despite the fact that I don't have a big community here, I have this place for my creativity where I can do anything I want and I can express myself just how I want to do it and I also have people who like to read what I write here and I am very very thankful for that.

I have plans for this blog to grow even more in the upcoming year, I still want it to be my happy place on the Internet, I hope to have people reading, I hope to make someone smile with my posts.
Three years is a long time and I am a person who constantly searches for new things and I mostly don't stick with anything for too long, so this is definitely an achievement for me and it hasn't even been hard to do.
I've looked through the posts from the past year and tried to pick my personal favorite posts and it's been pretty hard to narrow it down and it made me really happy, it was a pretty good year of blogging!

♥ The story about changing my life. Wow, it feels like I've written it ages ago!
♥ Sometimes I ready this post myself - my tips how to be happier in your life
♥ One of the most personal things I've written here - a letter to my 18 year old self
♥ Several life lessons I've learned along the way
♥ Here's why I love Summer festivals this much

BIRTHDAY TRIP TO ROME

Visiting Rome was a dream of mine for the longest time because Italy is definitely one of my favorite countries ever, I love the food, the culture, people there, the language, so visiting the heart of it was essential to me. Oh, and I am a huge lover of history and architecture, so this was also a place for me to go. This was a very special trip not only because I went there on my 21st birthday but also because this was the first trip where I and my friend had to do everything ourselves, there were no guides, nothing was really planned for us and we were the only ones who decided everything. This freedom to do anything you want and go anywhere you want was very liberating, it was really cool to think that in the middle of the school year you ran away to a beautiful city far away from home and you can wander the streets for hours without any plans at all. It also adds a little bit more stress but when everything turns out fine, you feel this sense of accomplishment which is great.
We had to use our map skills and that turned out quite interesting. I was pretty sure I don't understand maps at all and my friend though she understands maps very well but turns out we both are not that good at it. Thankfully people there are really friendly so we didn't get lost and it was even more fun trying to speak with people who don't speak any languages we do.
We got to see the main sights, we ate amazing food (seriously, I could eat Italian food every day of my life) and stared at the gorgeous Italian men in the streets and they are seriously gooooorgeous there, I think every girl would agree with me. This is definitely a city I would come back to if I'll ever have a chance and I would recommend to everyone hop on a plane and go experience Italy to the fullest.

MY ENDLESS LIST OF GRATITUDE #19

♥  In my 21 years I still have never been to a real Halloween party but I still dream of going to one someday. But for now, I made my room look a little bit spookier and I really like it and it will be an amazing atmosphere for watching Halloween movies!

♥ So this is the reason why I am late to my classes mos of the time. My precious cat is so adorable lately and has been so energetic, that I just spend so much time watching her do things or just sleep. Today she found my Canon lens lid so entertaining and it was so interesting to watch her play with it.

♥ This is another accent I've added to my room to make it slightly more ready for Halloween. I'm always so sad that we don't have the real tradition to celebrate Halloween where I live, so at least I make my room get into the spirit a little bit more.

♥ This means the only thing - winter is coming. All of my sweaters are organized and ready to make me feel a little cozier and warmer during these colder months.
♥ I am a huge lover of postcards and receiving one from the country far away (Denmark) is such an amazing feeling. My friend is living there now and this has been the cutest birthday present this year!

THE BEST BIRTHDAY SO FAR

You know, I am not the biggest fan of my birthdays, not only because I've already reached the age when it's pretty scary to see how quick you're getting older and older but mainly because it is a day in a year which you expect to be amazing and most of the time it really doesn't live up to your expectations. And since I am the biggest crier ever, there hasn't been a birthday in many years that I didn't cry at. I don't even know why exactly do I cry, but I always shed a tear and not necessarily a happy one, to me there is always something.. sad about it, even though I can't really explain it. So that is why this year I decided it would be an amazing idea to get away for my birthday, to leave all behind and just go to a very nice place. I am very happy that my dream actually came true and I got to celebrate my 21st birthday in the gorgeous city of Rome. If you know me, you know just how much I love Italy and visiting the heart of it has been a dream of mine for the longest time.
It was a gorgeous and windy day on October 7th, just like the day I was born 21 years ago and in the morning I met my Mom to have a very nice birthday breakfast and it was so nice to have couple of hours with her while eating cake and drinking coffee. After that, I met my best friend and we got straight to the airport where our adventure began. It really was an adventure in every possible way. It was the first trip for both of us when we were only two of us and there was no one else to count on in that city far away from home. The adventure started the moment when we got off in the neighbourhood where we were staying at and our host didn't pick up the phone. Thankfully, we managed to find the place somehow but it was just the beginning. We did get lost a bit, we've met some people that weren't that nice but everything worked out just fine and these little things just showed us that we can actually be independent and can handle the situation pretty good.
But despite everything that went wrong, there were so so many things which went just fine. We spent amazing time there, really. Rome is the city where every corner of it is worth a shot, it's so gorgeous and mind blowing at the same time. It's crowded, sometimes a little too noisy but so full of history that you fall in love with it immediately. I really did have the best birthday there and it was like no other I've had before. There we were only two of us in the city far away from home and everyone we know where we got to do everything ourselves, from figuring out the transport system, to discovering everything this city has to offer. So that is how I celebrated the age where I don't have any more limits, in a nice apartment, with a glass of wine and a cupcake with some candles. And it was awesome, to say the least!

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY

Good morning a 21 year old me. It feels really surreal even writing it, I don't know how long I will be saying that I'm still 20. I certainly still feel like a teenager and 20 was a strange number for me, what can I say about 21.. When I was significantly younger, 21 seemed like a very grown up age to be, I though people this age start thinking about their families (some of them actually do), some already have kids, some have already switched up among jobs and some even finished universities. And here I am, second time in a university and constantly thinking whether I actually picked a right path for myself, still living with my parents and actually really liking it, I have no clue how to pay bills, I don't have a driver's licence, I've worked in the same job three times and even though I've been to serious situations and know how to handle them, I can still be very childish but really love it. I still find sleepovers amazing, I love ice cream and jumping in the crashing waves, doing something on my own is still a challenge to me most of the time and I love overcoming it (I get better at it every time), I've been on a plane alone 6 times but I still love travelling with my parents. When I look at my parents, I see that no matter your age, you can still be childish sometimes and it's awesome. I love having this little me still in myself and don't want to ever be a serious grown up who finds jumping in a pile of leaves stupid.
So today I'm 21. What a year it's been for me. I just said that I don't want to grow up but this year I've definitely grown up quite a lot and it feels good. I mature a bit, I took some decisions for myself which made me a huge difference in my everyday life and it feels good saying this. So now, for my 21st birthday, I'm off to see the beautiful Rome and experience Italy one more time this year. Happy birthday me!

IT'S LUNA'S BIRTHDAY!

Yesterday my precious was celebrating her first birthday. I've become such a cat lady that this day actually seems important to me. Quite a few  family members and friends are also celebrating their birthdays on this day, so when we found out that this kitty was born on July 16th, we took it as a sign that she was destined to be our cat. When we got her, she was only 3 months old and she was tiny and now she has grown into a big and wonderful cat who is now staring at me while I'm typing this. Every day I look at her and I can't believe how much I love her. The strangest thing is that I've never been a cat person, I was pretty afraid of them and only looked at them from afar but now I can't imagine how we have lived before she came into our lives. Seeing her around is the biggest joy, really. It's amazing to get back home when she is waiting at the door for you. However, she is still a cat and a very independent one and is she is not feeling like sitting on your lap, she will express it very loudly and you can only agree with her. I am so happy I fought so hard to convince my family to get this cat breed because I knew she was perfect for us and she actually is.

TWO

Two years ago this day I started this blog and when I think, it's actually quite a long time for a blog. To be perfectly honest, this year I didn't enjoy blogging that much as I did on the first year. I don't know what the real reason is, maybe the lack of time once I started university, maybe I lost the direction of my life and also my blog, maybe lack of the inspiration. It's really hard to answer but I didn't really enjoy it that much this year.
This year many blogs I loved really much also started disappearing one after another, blogosphere is a little different from the time I got to know what it really was in 2010 when I started spending so much time reading blogs that I didn't get my work done. Now I don't spend that much time reading them, fashion blogs are also not the same like they used to be back then and now I enjoy reading lifestyle blogs much more than those fashion ones. But I know one thing for sure - I still really like having this record of my life online and it's nice sometimes go back into archives and see what was I doing some time ago. The only thing I can wish for me and the blog is to enjoy writing it much more than I did this year. So happy second year for Meet me on the balcony! And big thanks to those who are still coming here! :)

I'm 20!

My mini photo session (:

So today's my birthday! It's kinda strange to think that I will never be -teen again and that I'm quite grown up already. Even though I don't feel like a grown up most of the time but I guess that's a good think. I wouldn't like to forget what it's like to feel young :) I've never been a big fan of birthdays, for some reason this day always makes me a little sad but I'm already used to that to be frank. But today was a good day despite a little bit of sadness. I've received many greetings and felt pretty good. Now I have many flowers in every corner of my room and a big cake that needs to be eaten. The day started a little gloomy but once evening came, the sun started shining and it was very very beautiful around - just like the day I was born 20 years ago.  :)

ONE

Today my blog turned 1! So happy birthday to it! :) Thanks to everyone who follows me, I appreciate it so much :)
---
